Lip Fillers

Lip fillers consist of a smooth Hyaluronic Acid gel that is used to augment the lips and create a firmer, fuller look to this sensual feature of the face.

The delicate structure of the lips is both supported and enhanced through the use of lip fillers which contain a high concentration of hyaluronic acid aiding volume, structure and proportion. Small or thin lips can be the result of inherited genes or ageing.

The ageing process causes a loss in volume and weak skin that also becomes dry and wrinkled. Lip fillers help to restore hydration and volumizing properties for a naturally plump, youthful, and refreshed appearance.

A consultation at Pristine Vitality Clinic will involve reviewing the lips, including your motivations for treatment, and put together a treatment plan that considers the outcome you are wishing to achieve. We understand that the mouth and lips are one of the most noticeable features on the face, with many people wishing to possess lips that are full, evenly shaped and have a moist and dewy look.

The treatment is administered by injecting micro-droplets of filler into specific areas of the lips, using a very small needle. The smooth gel can be applied just beneath the skin both around the border of the lips or on the mouth itself.

The filler helps to add volume to small lips, which produces a more even texture to the skin for a reduced appearance of lip lines (also called ‘smokers’ lines’ or ‘lipstick lines’) and wrinkles.

As well as working to create fullness to either one or both lips and reducing the appearance of wrinkles, lip fillers can help to balance the proportion of the lips. Supporting the skin and tissues that surround the mouth, lip fillers can also effectively lift the corners of the mouth and reduce a downturned appearance.

Different densities of filler can be used, according to your requirements, in order to achieve the look you desire.

  FAQs

AM I SUITABLE FOR THIS TREATMENT?

If you are affected by lips that are: smaller than you would like, have a less defined cupid’s bow, have lip lines or wrinkles, are unbalanced in top and bottom lip proportion or are asymmetrical than having lip fillers may be suitable for you. The treatment will be personalized to meet your needs and your suitability will be determined through a thorough pre-treatment consultation. Underlying skin conditions and inflamed skin at the treatment area may mean you will not be recommended to undergo this procedure.

ARE LIP FILLERS SAFE?

Lip fillers contain a specially formulated substance that is kinder to the delicate skin on and around the mouth and is considered to be a very safe method of augmenting the lips. The practitioners at Pristine Vitality Clinic are trained and experienced professionals who perform this treatment carefully and precisely. The welfare of each and every patient is of paramount importance, which is why Pristine Vitality Clinic only uses the safest and most reputable brands of filler for their treatments.

WILL IT HURT?

The lips can be sensitive and may feel the effects of an injection more than other areas of the face. Lip filler products will often contain lidocaine, a mild anaesthetic that can help to slightly numb the area and alleviate any tenderness that may be felt. During your pre-treatment consultation you can discuss the discomfort that applying lip fillers can incur and you may be offered the option of a numbing cream to be applied before the treatment takes place

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OR RISKS?

Swelling, redness and slight bruising are common side effects of having lip fillers applied. These effects are often temporary and will settle within 48 hours of having the treatment. If there is a chance that a more serious complication could occur, this will be discussed with you at your one-to-one consultation, including: lumps and irregularities, infection, ulceration, and asymmetric lips.

HOW MUCH DOWNTIME CAN I EXPECT?

Minimal discomfort could be felt for around 24 hours following the treatment. Having lip fillers should not cause disruption to your day, but swelling may cause tenderness when eating and talking. Part of your aftercare will include avoiding touching the lips and applying unnecessary pressure to the lips for a period of around 6 hours.
